Our students team Marius Andrei (CTI year IV), Răzvan Bărbăscu (CTI year III), Ștefan-Dan Ciocîrlan (CTL year III) and Lucia Cojocaru (CTI year IV) coached by our colleagues Andrei Voinescu and Andrei Mușat achieved the third place at Suceava Hard and Soft Contest.

Also, another team  from Department of Automation and Industrial Informatics achieved Special Prize. The following students formed this team: Cristian Valentin Constantin, Cristian Ionut Dobre, Alexandru Predescu and Mihai Craciunescu. The team was coached by Stefan Mocanu.

The topic was IoT (Internet of Things) for home automation.
The organizers have provided each team a Raspberry Pi, an Intel Edison 5 ESPDuino and a set of sensors. Our team conducted a comprehensive solution covering multiple functionalities such as:    

• Monitoring the elderly (including SMS alerts by an assistant);
• Intruder Detection with PIR sensor and motion detection;
• Mitigation light a lamp controlled wireless;
• Alerts for emergencies (fire, smoke), environmental parameters (temperature, humidity);
• Control access to the house (RFID and "code" on knocking);
• Control appliances (tea making machine 100% automatic, wireless controlled fan).
