Visit of professor Stefano Secci - University Pierre et Marie Curie

On 9th May 2016, professor Stefano Secci from University Pierre et Marie Curie, LIP6, Paris, will visit our department.

He will give a presentation in ED010, starting at 11:00 am, with the topic "Reliability and flexibility in mobile edge computing orchestration".

Abstract:
------------
Major attention since a few years has been devoted to the deployment of computing resources into the access network to increase mobile service performance and reliability. In this context, novel computing resource orchestration problems do surface. In this talk, we will address three of them: the migration and relocation of virtual machines as a function of user mobility, the computation offloading of tasks from mobile devices to a nearby mobile device virtual machine, and the placement under very high availability constraints. We will in particular show how these orchestration operations can take place as a function of user mobility and virtual resource protection strategies.

Speaker:
------------
Stefano Secci is an Associate Professor at the University Pierre et Marie Curie, LIP6, Paris, France. He received the M.Sc. degree in communications engineering from Politecnico di Milano, Italy, in 2005, and a dual Ph.D. degree in computer science and networks from Politecnico di Milano  and Telecom ParisTech, in 2009. In 2010, he worked as Post-Doctoral Fellow with NTNU, Norway, and George Mason University, USA. Before the Ph.D., in 2005-2006, he worked as a Research Associate with Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, Canada, and with Politecnico di Milano, and as a Network Engineer with Fastweb Italia, Italy. His current research interest is about mobile edge computing and network virtualization.
